Ad oddities

Something must have changed with Google AdSense. I put a handful of ads on my sites, the three or four keyword type, and all of a sudden they're averaging a buck more a day than they were before.

I really wish I could afford to only use Google ads, because they're relatively non-intrusive. The problem is that they have a very low click rate on the coaster sites because there just aren't a lot of interesting ads to click on.

This is one of the things that I am looking forward to in the next version of the forums. I think by adding the ability to put these adds in the forums, you are opening yourself up to more keywords than you would on the normal coaster pages.

Does anybody intend to click on ads? I'll just never understand how a stupid, uninformative, intrusive ad that jumps around your screen and makes an obnoxious noise makes marketing sense. Any company that resorts to such tactics is not going to get my business.

That is precisely the reason Google AdSense works, they blend into the page (not to mention using a Google algorithm which determines which adds to place on the page based on the content of the page), such as the adds over here -->

If the intrusive ads didn't work, they wouldn't be spending top dollar for them.

Yeah, I figured they must work. I just can't imagine it. I guess two things are going on: I am far from typical and people really are pretty stupid.

Afterall, how else to explain the obsession over the cola wars?
