I happened upon this in Wired, and I knew when I saw it in the animated short Lifted that I had heard it in most of the other films mentioned.

Funny story about that...

I'm a fan of a band called "A Wilhelm Scream" and I've been to a few of their concerts and I was wearing their t-shirt to a party and a random dude walked up to me and explained the meaning behind the band's name. Pretty funny, although I didn't remember his explanation...

OMG....Them!! One of my favorite old movies.

And now that it's been pointed out, I'll never be able to watch another movie without listening for that scream.
