Burst of quasi-productivity

I was really charged up to write, or figure out, some Javascript tonight to make a div open and close in an animated fashion. It took five hours, but I got it mostly figured out. There is one glitch that I haven't yet figured out, but hopefully with time I'll get it. I hate Javascript in the worst way. But I can find a lot of use for it in the next forum version.

I also checked out script.aculo.us, which is the free library that digg is using. It's really high level stuff, and quite amazing, but it's also kind of bulky. I haven't decided if I'll use it.

A part of me wants to stay up for hours and experiment and mess with the code, like I did in the old days when I didn't have a salary gig, but I really need to go to bed. Yes, I am a geek.

I wish I still had the passion.

What's with the hate for Javascript?

What about a setting or a 2nd default page that disables the bulky js code for a faster run of hte site... kinda like the lo-fi versions you see of some musical artists sites? The lo-fi version here could be basically normal coasterbuzz.

Well with the stuff in external files, I'm pretty sure it only has to run once. Digg loads a little slow the first time, but it's faster after that.
