Coen movie round up

I finally saw No Country For Old Men. Didn't care for it. It seemed dark for the sake of being dark.

Burn After Reading was great. Now Lebowski great, but damn close. Brad Pitt is the shit. Actually, everyone gave an incredible performance. I'm not sure how you classify the movie (tragic farce comedy?), but it's a winner.

I need to watch No Country For Old Men because my iPod battery couldn't make it through the movie on the way back from Mexico.

Agree with you on No Country For Old Men. The Coen's seemed to be trying a different direction, but not sure where they were going with it. I didn't find it entertaining nor particularly thought provoking.

Speaking of film, have you seen Lars and the Real Girl ? If not, I highly recommend it. If you have, please share your thoughts. I found it to be a great premise to explore people reaching out in a community with compassion and also how we all have some fears we need to face in our own way before we can move on.

I've read about it, and it sounded wholly depressing. Not sure if I'll see that one.

Wow! I can't imagine how one would find it depressing. It's filled with positive messages and ends on a very upbeat note. Along the way I smiled a lot and laughed out loud quite regularly; though I grant you I do have a bit of a twisted sense of humor.
