Damn you, Apple!

So as it turns out, Final Cut won't run on the new Intel Mac Mini...

Actually, it installs, and they're simply saying it doesn't meet the requirements. One assumes it's because of the built-in video hardware. Lame.

In all honesty, it's not a pro machine at all. You can't expect to buy the lowest Apple machine and expect to run $1,300 Pro Video, Audio, and DVD software on it.

Why not? you can expect to do that in the PC world.

Well then I guess he'll have to stick to PC's for now.

It will run on any non Intel mac. They are porting it to Intel now, I assume they will launch it when the Intel desktops are announced.

At least try a demo of Premiere Pro 2...

Premier can't edit HD. The FCP port to Intel is out already.

"Capture, edit, and deliver virtually any format, from DV to uncompressed HD."

I don't have any HD content to edit so I can't verify it.

Read closer, it does HDV, a consumer format. There's no support for DVCPRO HD without a 3rd party product, and the software itself still sucks... the UI, the rendering, etc. Why would I ever go from Avid to that?

The Premiere and After Effects interfaces are completely ripped from Final Cut Pro. Even with the extra hardware its still going to be cheaper than a Mac mini and FCP.

I just see people all the time accepting FCP as the only way, anything else is ridiculous. I personally don't think thats the case and try to spread the love.

Good luck. I think I am just jealous I can't drop credit on a camera, computer and software.
