Here she is, happy to have her new ride at home.
But wait, that's country music coming out of the stereo. Eeew.
The new car arrives for its first night in its room.
You know, of the cars that we test drove when Jamie was looking, the Elantra was my favorite. It seemed to be the most bang for the buck. Jamie liked the Fit better though -and everyone else in her family thought negatively of Hyundai - though none of them actually have one.
Congrats on the new car, Diana!
For years and years my dad had been a GM guy. He always stuck with Buick, Oldsmobile, Chevy, and GMC, and he absolutely would never drive a Ford again after his 1982 Escort debacle. After he test drove my Civic when I bought and then test drove the Accord, he ended up buying his first "foreign car." I use that term loosly because every car is practically foreign nowadays.
When my sisters wrecked their cars, my parents took the insurance money and bought 10-year-old Hondas with them. They both have done well, except one of the Hondas have been wrecked already and replaced with a Toyota Camry.
It is funny how families have their opinions of cars and whatnot. On my wife's side of the family, they are all Ford people and they think Ford makes the greatest cars and trucks. I think this is mainly because my grandfather-in-law is a retired Ford worker. To each their own. I think cars in general today are very well made and as long as you take care of them and change the oil as scheduled, they should last you at the minimum 100k miles. At this point its more of a preference of what options you want. I think the Asian cars like Mitsubishis, Hondas, Toyotas, and Hyundais feel more solid and have that expensive look, even with the base models. The upholstry and materials used make the car look like it came out of a luxury car. Compare that to "American" cars which are starting to take note and follow suit of what the Asian car companies have been doing for years. I remember my Cavalier had burlap seats and hard plastic door covers that showed every scratch imaginable. My Civic felt like it's light years ahead of my Cavalier despite being 7 years newer.
Congrats on the new ride Diana! I have a sick feeling that once I pay off my Civic it'll be time for a 4-door :( Which is sad because I love my car.
