I pulled the trigger on a Mac Pro

Yep, my dream machine is on its way. The purchase regret is already setting in.

But I realized something important this morning. Good computer hardware inspires me to create. Creating stuff is what gets me out of bed in the morning. I'm tired of feeling bad for buying things that I really want to create stuff, so this is the point where I stop doing that.

Does it set back project debt reduction back a month? Yes. Will said inspiration lead to me creating something that will make me a buck? Maybe. Is it worth taking the chance that it won't? Absolutely.

Haha, you knew you could only hold out for so long. At least you waited until they were shipping within 24 hours. ;)

Specs plz?

Congrats! Good for you for making the purchase, definitely a lot of opportunity for you.

FYI I'm sitting in a room with 21 of them right now....or at least a machine that looks just like that one you have linked (I assume yours is better somehow, someway).

Those are probably Power Macs, which use the old G5 processors that are liquid cooled. :)

I opted for most of the default specs... dual dual-core 2.66 GHz Xeon CPU's (that's FOUR cores, baby!), 2 GB of RAM and the Airport card internally (don't need it, but for $44 I'll always have that flexibility).

I'm really excited... I haven't had a high-end computer really ever. I've always bought stuff that was more mid-range, and my current CPU is now almost three years old. The thing I'm most excited about really is that I can easily pop in more drives, so when I do cut my movie, I can drop another terabyte or more in there.
