Love hotel? Karaoke machine?

You find the weirdest shit in the Japanese press. I found this gem in a news search because it had "amusement park" in the text.

If I'm to understand this right, there are hotels intended for sex, and they're stocked with karaoke machines and video games? That's really odd.

Haha...the Love Hotels! They are ALLLLL over the place! Here's a photo I took of the rates when I was over there:

Pretty good deal!

Anyway, I was somewhat confused too...but then someone told me that it's because the Japanese houses are generally small, perhaps one room. And then there's the whole "paper door" thing. If the kids never leave the house, then mommy and daddy go shack up at a Love Hotel.

Makes sense to me!

People in Japan use karaoke machines more than TV per a Travel Channel show I watched the other day.

I took a World Civ class on Japan, and we learned about this. The hotel rooms are theme rooms, including a "rocket" room. The bed is shaped like a rocket ship and it's on a track in the room. If you get the bed rocking good enough, smoke will come out of the end of the rocket and it'll move across the room.

Love and sex, out of this world.
