Sit Down

It's well known that I'm a James fan, and I recently learned they've done some performing again and released a new album you can't seem to get here in the states. In any case, I recently bought their live album from 2001, which was supposed to be their last show, and I've since become a big fan of the song "Sit Down," which they're known for closing shows with. You can see the video from the album here.

The song seems really relevant to me lately. I guess the reason is that it makes you think about the people you appreciate, and who appreciate you in turn. It makes me feel like regardless of the madness life may throw at you, we get through it, together. That's a good feeling.

I'll sing myself to sleep
A song from the darkest hour
Secrets I can't keep
Inside of the day
Swing from high to deep
Extremes of sweet and sour
Hope that God exists
I hope I pray

Drawn by the undertow
My life is out of control
I believe this wave will bear my weight
So let it flow

Oh sit down
Sit down next to me
Sit down, down, down, down, down
In sympathy

Now I'm relieved to hear
That you've been to some far out places
Its hard to carry on
When you feel all alone
Now I've swung back down again
Its worse than it was before
If I hadn't seen such riches
I could live with being poor

Oh sit down
Sit down next to me
Sit down, down, down, down, down
In sympathy

Those who feel the breath of sadness
Sit down next to me
Those who find they're touched by madness
Sit down next to me
Those who find themselves ridiculous
Sit down next to me
In love, in fear, in hate, in tears
