Most importantly, they illustrate that hits score points, but defense wins games. I think the giant Kerri is a role model for tall players everywhere that demonstrates how being great defensively makes you a better player.
The indoor women, God bless them, lost in five to Brazil. They dropped the first two and came back to win the third and fourth, but let Brazil rally seven points straight right at the start of the fifth. They're young, and it looks like most of them will be back in four years. They're inconsistent. I see a superstar in Logan Tom, who is only two years out of college. I can see her being a contributor for at least two more Olympics if she stays on.
What's less exciting than women in tight bikinis jumping up & down and falling into the sand, then hugging each other. That my friend is must see TV. I loved it when I got to see the replay...of May & Walsh's celebration...in slow-mo.
OK, don't come back with the "Freeze, take volleyball seriously" blast. I'm bustin' your balls.
NBC needs a pat on the back with its coverage. Behind every event, there's a story to be told. Who thought there was a compelling drama behind...the trampoline final? Seriously, I've been glued to the tube watching these games. I haven't been this excited since LA 1984.
I use to deliver papers and ran home to watch Mary Lou Retton on the balance beam. I was in love that woman. She actually pulled off a perfect 10. Carl Lewis & Edwin Moses ruled Track & Field and who can forget Team USA in basketball. Jordan, Ewing, Tisdale, Bobby Knight, and that was the college ranks. They killed teams on the court. Now, we just another team trying to get any medal at best. Iverson & Co. better wake the hell up.
Yeah, if you're talking about looks, that was one hell of a celebration.
I think NBC's coverage has kind of sucked for long-form sports like volleyball and basketball. I realize they can't show an entire 2.5 hour game, but the parts they do show are too brief. The beach cuts were even more ridiculous.
Give me Misty May's booty any day. I'd be gay for that! :)
